As a temporary solution, you might be able to see the search bar if you "Request Desktop Site" on your mobile device.

Here's a guide for iOS 9.0 - (Should be similar for newer versions)

If you have Android Phone / Tablet and Google Chrome installed, just hit the menu customise button at the top right in google chrome and tick "Desktop Site".
